Deadline EAU 4th North Eastern European Meeting has passed
NEEM 2010 examines uro-oncology issues in five sessions
July 29, 2010 - The abstract deadline for the NEEM passed on 1 July and we can safely say that the latest treatment issues in uro-oncology, reconstructive surgery and upper tract diseases will take centre stage during the forthcoming two-day EAU 4th NEEM held on September 10 and 11 in Riga, Latvia.
“We have prepared an exciting programme that will present and closely examine issues in prostate, renal and bladder cancers such as managing complications, lymph node dissection, urinary diversion following cystectomy and urethral strictures, to name a few,” said Dr. Alvis Laukmanis, local organiser and president of the Latvian Urological Association.
The scientific programme is divided into the following plenary sessions: prostate cancer, bladder cancer, reconstructive surgery and renal cell cancer and upper tract TCC. A total of 92 abstracts were submitted from the following countries: Austria, Belarus, Estonia, Finland, Iran, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine and the United Kingdom. Please see the Scientific Programme section of this website for more details.
As usual, contributions come from all over the region. Since its first meeting in Tampere, Finland in September 2007, the NEEM has seen some of the most exciting and innovative work being presented by young urologists in the region.
“In previous years, we have seen that the meeting has gathered both young and expert urologists. Definitely the NEEM is an annual event that urologists from the region look forward to since they anticipate the benefits of getting the latest updates on various issues. A dynamic exchange in best practices and skills is therefore made possible through a meeting like NEEM,” explained Laukmanis.
“We have seen the talent coming from various countries in the region. By exposing these urologists to other practices and viewpoints we will only contribute to improving our own work as well as theirs,” he added.
